Newsweek’s national ranking of public schools has long served as an authoritative guide for parents and students to identify the high schools in America that best prepare kids for college.
We’re improving our rankings in several important ways in 2014 to create a more rigorous, comprehensive analysis. We’ve included public data in our analysis instead of relying on survey data alone and we’ve added new factors to our College Readiness Score.
This year, Newsweek is publishing two sets of rankings – one that ranks schools based solely on academic achievement and a second list that takes student poverty into account. With this new approach, Newsweek seeks to recognize over 700 American schools that provide an excellent education to students of all backgrounds.
