FAFSA Application

What is FAFSA?
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is a federal program that provides students with grants, loans, and other resources to help cover college tuition and educational expenses.

We know the process can feel overwhelming, but at Horizon, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Follow the steps below to get started:

Step 1: Create Your Account

The first step is to create an account (called an FSA ID) and gather necessary documents. Both you and a parent/guardian may need to create separate accounts.

Before you begin, make sure to gather the following documents:

  • Social Security Number

  • Your parent/guardian’s Social Security Number (if applicable)

  • Federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of income

  • Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)

  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable)

  • Your FSA ID

Step 2: Complete Your FAFSA

Log in to studentaid.gov and complete your FAFSA application. You’ll need to enter your parent/guardian’s tax information and answer questions about your household’s financial situation.
